👶【Astrological Electional Timing Tips──How to Choose a Good Birth Date for Your Baby】✨
I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant myself, and because of some personal health factors, my doctor has recommended a C-section — which means I finally get to put one of mum's professional astrology skills to use: electing a birth time!
That's right, you read that correctly — astrology does have its own electional techniques. Picking an auspicious date isn't an exclusively Eastern thing~ the West takes it very seriously too.
Honestly, I don't have any "my child must become a dragon" expectations for Fish Roe (our baby's nickname). I do occasionally daydream about them turning out to be some kind of boy genius or one of life's big winners, but realistically speaking, I'm a lazy mum myself, and I never adapted well to cram-style exam education — there's no way I could ever be a tiger mum.
Back when I was a student I wasn't all that diligent either, so if I now held my child to standards I couldn't meet myself, I'd feel like a total fraud 🤣
On top of that, I wasn't exactly young when I had Fish Roe. If they really do achieve something big career-wise, their dad and I might not even be around to enjoy it — we may simply not live that long (hey!).
And after looking at enough charts, you really do come to understand that the people who build themselves up from nothing and charge their way to success usually have a whole pile of pressure and pain buried in their charts that outsiders could never understand.
To put it plainly: "That kind of success has to be paid for with a great deal of suffering."
And that suffering often doesn't just come from circumstances — it comes from turmoil in the family of origin, and from the tug-of-war and insecurity deep inside.
So here's how I see it:
Rather than have my child suffer that much just to rise above everyone else, I'd much rather they be safe, happy, and comfortably well-off.
🎯What I personally consider a "good fate" comes down to roughly these points:
◆A healthy personality, free of inner turmoil
◆A healthy body and stable emotions
◆A harmonious family, and a good relationship with mum and dad
So when I was choosing Fish Roe's birth time, these three points were my core criteria.
Of course, if you want to elect a birth time, the first step is still to ask whether your doctor can accommodate it.
I first asked my doctor for the window they recommended for the C-section, then picked out a few time slots within it that I thought looked good and handed them to the doctor to choose from (don't create problems on the medical side — that way everyone's happy 😌).
🔍As for the logic I used to pick the date, it goes something like this:
1. No strong hard aspects to the Sun and Moon:
This means less inner conflict, emotions are less likely to fight with themselves, and the inner-turmoil index goes down.
2. Avoid positions where the Moon forms strong aspects with the malefics (like Saturn, Mars, Neptune and Pluto):
The Moon relates to emotions, mother-child attachment and a sense of security. If it's too heavily challenged, it can affect the quality of the child's relationships with intimate partners, and they'll tend to feel less secure.
3. Mars shouldn't be in fall or severely afflicted:
Mars represents drive and physical vitality. If it lands in a position where it can't express itself well, the child may lack motivation, be more easily frustrated, or have a weaker constitution. If you want a baby with plenty of energy who moves through life smoothly, this is a point to pay special attention to.
4. As far as possible, the child's Sun and Moon shouldn't form strong aspects with the malefics in the parents' charts (especially Mars, Saturn and Pluto):
This kind of configuration tends to create "unconscious conflict" between parent and child — projection, stepping on each other's landmines, or just feeling inexplicably out of sync — and it affects the quality of the parent-child bond.
It's not that it can't be worked through, but avoiding it up front makes everything much easier later on~
Overall, I just run one round of filtering based on these principles, and if there happen to be other bonus-point benefic aspects or nice configurations left over afterwards, then that's a Bonus 🎁
🕰️One more thing: when I look at a birth time for a baby, I don't pin it down to the exact "hour and minute" — I usually just pick a fairly wide time range.
I feel that with something as momentous as birth, there's no need to fantasise that humans can control 100% of everything. You should still leave some room for the baby to have a say.
If the baby insists on arriving early, well, that's their choice too~~
Mum and dad should just go with the flow and let it be XDDD
👶【Afterword】
Choosing a birth time may be described as choosing your child's fate, but really it's a blessing that parents give their child.
I'm not asking for meteoric success — just health, happiness, and a settled, easy life.
I hope these little reflections help other parents who are also thinking about electing a date 🌷
