What are astro dice?

Astrodice condenses the whole of astrology into three 12-sided dice: a planet die (what is happening), a sign die (how it shows up), and a house die (which area of life it happens in). Between them the three dice carry 36 symbols and 1,728 combinations; after the roll you link the three keywords into a single sentence, and that is the guidance the dice offer.

Unlike natal chart work, which needs your exact birth time, astro dice can be cast at any moment — ideal for getting quick direction on one specific question. This site offers free online rolls, and you can request an in-depth reading from our professional astrologer, Elsa, for a more concrete answer to what's troubling you.

How to use astro dice: four steps

  1. Frame an open-ended question: the more specific the better — for example, "How will my relationship with my manager develop from here?" Avoid yes/no phrasing.
  2. Focus, then roll: type your question above and press roll; the system throws the planet, sign and house dice together.
  3. Read in the order what → how → where: look at the planet die first (what is happening), then the sign die (in what manner and mood), then the house die (in which area of life).
  4. Join the keywords into one sentence: for example, Venus + Scorpio + 8th House reads as "a relationship (Venus) is transforming in a deep and intense way (Scorpio) in the realm of intimacy and shared resources (8th House)." If a combination doesn't make sense to you, you can request an in-depth reading from Elsa online (paid, charged per question).

What can I ask the astro dice?

Astro dice don't answer "yes" or "no", so frame your question in an open way that gathers more information, and ask one thing at a time. Good questions look like:

  • "What is the current state of this job?"
  • "Where is this relationship heading next?"
  • "What do I most need to pay attention to right now?"

Less suitable: yes/no questions, either/or choices ("is A or B better?"), precise timing ("on what date will it happen"), more than one question at once, and major medical, legal or investment decisions — please consult a qualified professional for those. We also suggest rolling a given question only once in a short period; repeated rolls only blur the message. If the dice don't give you a clear answer, or your question isn't suited to them, talk to Elsa — she can work with other tools (natal chart, transits, horary, geomancy) to help you find one.

Are astro dice accurate?

The value of astro dice isn't blunt prediction; it's using astrological symbols to help you see your own situation from a new angle. The same set of symbols reads differently depending on the question, and the quality of the reading depends on how well the question is framed and how well the reader knows the 36 symbols.

That's why, alongside free rolls, we offer in-depth readings reviewed by astrologer Elsa: the system prepares a draft interpretation from your question and the symbols rolled, and professional astrologers were involved in developing and training it — so that people without an astrology background can still get an answer with real context. Note too that astro dice work best within a horizon of about three months; the longer the timeframe, the more variables come into play and the less reliable the reading.

Worked examples

Q: "Is it time to change jobs?" → Mars + Capricorn + 10th House

Mars (action, courage) in Capricorn (goals, execution) and the 10th House (career, standing): your drive is already aimed at a career goal. This favours laying groundwork with discipline — updating your CV, taking stock of your achievements, setting a timeline — rather than quitting on impulse.

Q: "What's the state of this ambiguous relationship?" → Moon + Pisces + 12th House

Moon (emotion, security) in Pisces (intuition, imagination) and the 12th House (subconscious, hidden): it feels romantic, but it's largely living in imagination and ambiguity, with neither side stating what they need. Get clear on your own feelings before discussing the next step.

Q: "What should I watch financially right now?" → Saturn + Taurus + 2nd House

Saturn (limits, discipline) in Taurus (stability, practicality) and the 2nd House (money, resources): all three symbols point at your financial foundations. Rein in spending, review fixed costs and savings discipline; this is not the time to extend credit or take investment risks.

How is this different from tarot?

Tarot answers through the imagery and stories of 78 cards — rich, but it means memorising a lot of card meanings. Astro dice use only three layers of symbolism — planet × sign × house — to pinpoint what, in what manner, and in which area. The structure is lean and quick to learn, and one roll gives you a complete answer. If you already know a little astrology you can start almost immediately; to understand the whole blueprint of your life, pair it with a personal birth chart reading.

Astro dice FAQ

What are astro dice?

Astrodice is a divination tool made of three 12-sided dice representing 12 planets, 12 zodiac signs and 12 houses — 1,728 combinations in total. After the roll, the three symbols read as "planet (what is happening) × sign (in what manner) × house (in which area of life)" form a single sentence of guidance for your question.

Does rolling online cost anything?

No — rolling on this site is completely free once you log in as a member. If you'd like an in-depth reading reviewed by an astrologer, you get a monthly free allowance, and the allowance is only used when you request a reading.

Are astro dice accurate?

The value of astro dice isn't blunt prediction — it's using astrological symbols to see your situation from a new angle. They work well for clarifying where you are and exploring direction. The quality of a reading depends on how the question is framed and how well the reader knows the symbols, which is why we also offer in-depth readings reviewed by an astrologer.

What kinds of questions can I ask?

Open-ended questions work best, such as "What is the current state of this relationship?" or "What should I watch out for if I change jobs?" Avoid yes/no questions, precise timing, and major medical, legal or investment decisions — please consult a qualified professional for those.

Can I roll the same question more than once?

We recommend rolling a given question only once within a short period. Re-rolling in search of the answer you want only makes the message murkier. If the situation genuinely develops, ask again about the new circumstances.

How is this different from tarot?

Tarot tells a story through the imagery and meanings of 78 cards. Astro dice use three layers of astrological symbolism — planet, sign and house — to pinpoint what, how and where directly. The structure is leaner and quicker to learn, and anyone with an astrology background can start reading right away.

How does the in-depth reading work?

After rolling you can request an in-depth reading (3 free requests per month). A professional astrologer, drawing on years of experience reading astrological symbolism, focuses and interprets the result around your specific question so you get a more concrete answer. This service is unique to this site.
